The next World Congress of Gastroenterology, the World Congress of Gastroenterology at ACG 2017, will be held in partnership with The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Annual Scientific Meeting and Postgraduate Course, 13-18 October 2017 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
The WCOG has historically been held every four years, starting with the first World Congress in Washington, DC, USA in 1958. Traditionally, the World Congress has rotated between three regions: the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. For Congresses organized after 2017, this regional rotation will be extended to officially include the Africa/Middle East region. View the congress history.
After 2017, the World Congress will also officially move to a two-yearly schedule beginning with the meeting in 2019. The call for bids for the 2019 WCOG is now closed. The call for bids for the 2021 WCOG will open in early 2017. Applications to host a World Congress can only be considered from WGO member societies. Final ratification of the venue of a World Congress is made at the WGO General Assembly.
