2005

The Cairo Training Center conducted its second training course from April 2-12, 2005. Twelve trainees from across the Middle East and Africa attended. Lectures and training sessions covered a variety of topics including the endoscopic treatment of portal hypertension, diagnostic colonoscopy, injection sclerotherapy for esophageal and fundul versus and band legation.

2004

Directly after the inauguration of the Center, a multidisciplinary training course was held for national and international trainees. 15 young physicians from the Middle East and Africa, participated in the course which included "hands-on" training at the Theodor Bilharz Institue, in Cairo. As portal hypertension is a particularly prevalent in this region, the course offered participants lectures and discussion periods about schistosomiasis and chronic hepatitis.

It is the goal of the Cairo Training center to promote the highest standards in the care of patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
