WGO Training Center in La Paz, Bolivia
The La Paz Bolivian-Japanese Institute of Gastroenterology supported by the WGO and OMED Education and Training Committee has been nominated as a training center for the region of Latin America.
A mutual cooperation document was signed by the governments of Japan and Bolivia, giving support to the advanced international courses in gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy for Latin America between 2004-2008.
"The inauguration of the La Paz Training Center is an extremely important development for gastroenterology in Latin America as it will facilitate the transmission of training and expertise from the center in La Paz, long renowned in the continent, to young gastroenterologists from the region. Together with the established gastroenterology centers in Soweto, Rabat, Karachi and Cairo and the Advanced Endoscopy Centre in Santiago these training centers promote the primary goal of the World Organisation of Gastroenterology (WGO): to promote the highest standards in training and education in gastroenterology throughout the world."
