Training Courses

Overview
The Courses cover a wide range of clinical and technical issues:
- Polypectomy and mucosectomy of the oesophagus, stomach and colon.
- Bilio-pancreatic therapeutic endoscopy (Basic and Advanced)
- Endotherapy of the colon
- Endotherapy of the oesophagus
- Small bowel diagnosis and therapy through traditional endoscopy and videocapsule endoscopy.
- Therapeutic and Diagnostic Endoscopy of the small bowel
- Principles and techniques of dilation and stenting of strictures of the GI tract

Annual Working schedule:
- Ist Trimester: daily attendance of all biliopancreatic endoscopy activities in order to get familiar with:
- Indications, techniques, accessories and how to carry-out the procedures.
- Observation and morphological interpretation of X-rays.
- IInd Trimester: Active participation as an Assistant to all the procedures, in order to get acquainted with the choice, manipulation and use of accessories (catheters, sphincterotomes, guide-wires, stents, etc).
- IIIrd Trimester: Active participation in the diagnostic phase.
- IVth Trimester: Active participation in the therapeutic phase.
WEEKLY PLANNING
- 1 day per week: the trainee is in charge of starting routine ERCP examination under proctoring.
- 2 days per week: assistance in the ERCP room.
- 2 days per week: upper GI and colonoscopy (diagnostic & therapeutic)
- 1 day per week: on-call as assistant for emergencies (24h round-the-clock)
