WGO Training Center in Santiago, Chile
Introduction:
The Latin-American Training Center for advanced endoscopic techniques was founded in Santiago, Chile in 1997 and endorsed by WGO on July 23, 2004.
Aims/Mission:
- To increase the advanced endoscopy skills of Endoscopists from different latitudes, especially from the Latin-American area. Upon return to their home institutions, trainees should have attained the knowledge and skills to improve local healthcare delivery and to disseminate this skill set to their colleagues.
- To prepare physicians in the field of endoscopy sedation
- To encourage trainees to increase their academic credentials
Facilities:
The WGO Santiago Training Center is located at the Clinica Alemana in Santiago. The facilities are housed in a new building with various rooms dedicated to the Training Center on the 3rd and 4th floors of the hospital. The facilities on the 3rd floor include:
- A training and administrative area
- EUS
- Reception area for public patients
- X-ray – Surgical Endoscopy Room
- Recovery Room
- Video Library
- Physiology Lab
Facilities located on the fourth floor include:
- Reception / Front Desk
- 4 Endoscopy Suites
- Recovery Room
- Waiting Room
- Nurses Area
- Pharmacy
- Supplies
