Public events in honour of WDHD

Dr. Khawaja Qamaruddin has organised a celebration on May 29, 2008 at the National Ministry of Public Health in Kabul, Afghanistan.

National conference in Minsk will held on 26 May 2008, “Preventive and Clinical Nutrition”, by the supporting of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic Belarus.

Following problems will discuss by multidisciplinary authorities and specialists: Nutrition properties as preventive factors for health for population, Nutrition in clinical practice: food intolerance as clinical problem, Efficacy and safety dietetic treatment: evidence and myth, Food labeling standard for health claim.

1st Hepatology & Gastroenterology Post Graduate course, 28-29 November, 2008. This course will address new topics in Hepatology and Gastroenterology and will include lectures as well as interactive training sessions.

The Department of Gastroenterology of Health Sciences University of Mongolia and Mongolian Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy will hold World Health Digestive Day on 29 May 2008 "Optimal nutrition in Health and Diseases", will held on 30 May 2008 "Clinical nutrition8 food safety" by the supporting of the Ministry of Health, Mongolia.

The Emirates Gastroenterology Society will hold a one day CME course about nutritional health on May 30, 2008. In addition, the society will launch a year long public awareness campaign about nutrition across the Emirates on May 29, 2008. The Spanish Society of Gastroenterology will produce a Spanish language compendium of 18 WGO guidelines for free distribution during the national Spanish congress of gastroenterology. 1500 copies will be distributed during this event in May 2008.

The Sudanese Society of Gastroenterology held a seminar on the 29th of May on nutrition. There were two speakers: Professor Siddiga , sand Professor Mohamed Yoiusif Doctors, nutritionists, medical students and the media were invited. The seminar lasted 2.5 hrs and was a success in bringing together different parts of the community. In addition, the Sudanese state television channel broadcasted two successive programs about nutrition. Members of the public were invited to call in and have their questions addressed by medical professors.

Elena Trucco, President of Uruguayan Society of Gastroenterology, has co-organised with Danone a public education event on May 29, 2008 in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo. A tent will be set up in the city center, and citizens will be offered the opportunity to undergo a nutritional evaluation which will examine their BMI, weight and diet.
